Etymology
First defined by moronista.com on October 12, 2013, but previously used by a few others in different contexts.

It is a combination of moron and the  Italian, Spanish or Portuguese suffix: -ista. Compares to other -ista neologisms such as Sandinista, Peronista, Guardianista.
